Specialized Mastère


The specialized mastère (MS) « Managing project innovation » is a one year training course accredited by the Conference of Grandes Ecoles.

Registered in the National Directory of Professional Certifications (RNCP) level 1 code NSF 200n.

Training and degree

The specialized mastère (MS) « Managing project innovation » aims to train professionals able to plan, realize and pilot innovation within companies. This “innovation” approach is the interface between technology dynamism and company management, more specifically within the industrial sectors which ITECH trains you for, such as plastic materials, formulation chemistry, textiles and leather.

The training is done by alternating teaching at ITECH with a mission in a company.

This MS prepares participants for positions such as: Head of product development, Project officer for new activities, Head of research and development line, consultant in innovation…

Alternating organization

The organization of the program allows it to work as a sandwich course: 1 week at ITECH and 1 week in a company for 7 months, then 5 months full time in a company.

The Mastère can also take on participants under the student status who can then do their internship in a company.


level of recruitment – degree required

Participants in the MS (Manager in Project Innovation) can apply with:

  • A degree in engineering from a grande école
  • A degree in Management School
  • A professional masters or a research masters delivered by a University within the field of sciences and technology, of medicine and pharmaceuticals, in architecture, in economy, in social sciences and management. Or with an equivalent degree.
  • Validation of Bac + 4 (4th Year in Unoversity): master 1 or equilent with 3 years of professional experience.

Registration prodedure

Registration takes place on the ITECH site.

After registration, candidates must give a complete file.

The deadline for completing the file is the 30th of May.


Admission to the specialized mastère goes through 2 phases:

  • Selection by file, academic criteria and conformity of the project.
  • Individual interview for selected candidates with a jury made of up of teaching staff and of an industrial. The aim of the interview is to verify the coherence of the candidate’s project with the objectives of the program, as well as evaluating the qualities of the candidate in regards to the career which the training prepares him or her for.

Juries: depending on reception of the files, between April and June

Final Jury: 12th of July 2016

For participants in a sandwich course, the inscription becomes definitive only after receiving the contract from the company.

tuition fees

The cost of the training for the sandwich alternating course – professional contract and regular training is 8500€ (covered by the OPCA and the company).

The cost of the training under the student status is €5 900 (for 2014-2015).

Financing the training

For the participant, this sandwich course can be financed by:

  • A Professionalization Contract or Professionalization Period (candidates are already employed). This formula, which is the one used by almost of all participants, allows to finance the schooling and remuneration of the participants (OPCA and company financing).
  • Regular training: FONGECIF, DIF, training plan


The training consist in 500 hours organized into:

  • Module 6. Design

  • Module 9. Knowledge engineering, Industrial property (patents), Economic Intelligence
  • Module 10. Information system and innovation
  • Module 11. Cost and financing innovation
  • Module 12. Managing and project undertaking
  • Module 13 : Strategy of Innovation
  • Module 14 : Research Methodology
  • Module 15 : Synthesis Seminar

Innovation project industrial: 100 hours

Professional thesis through a mission in a company.

After the educational phase, the program is complete by a 5 month work experience ina company, full time.

The whole of this mission in a company gives way to professional thesis presented in front of a jury.


  • Teaching period: October to May.
  • Teaching period: 14 weeks (2 non consecutive weeks per month).
  • Full time period in a company: May to September.
  • Vivas take place the month after the end of the mission.

The teaching environment

This Mastère is piloted and insured by the ITECH teaching staff.

A large part of the training is done by representatives of companies and consultants.

For a training in design, this mastère has a partnership with the Ecole Martinière Diderot and Design cabinet “Design Office.”

Teaching mainly takes place in the Ecully site (Lyon).

Jobs and positions

The end result of this mastère is to train participants for jobs as designers, activity leaders and managers in Innovation Processing. This training relies on the combination of technology, marketing and of management in order to prepare participants for positions such as:

  • Head of product development
  • Project officer for novel activity
  • Head of research and development line
  • Consultant in Innovation
  • Account manager in animation organisms for innovation (Chamber of commerce, technical centers, regional organisms, professional syndicates…)
  • Account manager in financing innovation organisms
  • Project officer for technological, intelligence watch and prospection
  • Entrepreneur in an innovating company…

This mastère is more specifically focused on activities corresponding to ITECH’s specialties such as textiles, plastic materials and manufacturing, cosmetics, paints and coatings, leather. But it also trains participants in innovation in mechanics, biotechnology and food-processing.

The jobs and positions in mind can be exercised in practically all activity sectors of industry and services, in large or small companies, but also in administration and local communities.

The positions are, first of all, positions of intermediate responsibility, like head of projects, account managers, hear of activity…

Professionals coming from this training will go on to evolve in positions of Heads of “Business Units,” Heads of Departments…
