Library
ITECH’s library current houses around 16,500 documents, including:
- 11,000 periodicals including 60 ongoing subscriptions and 134 titles in all, covering the following subjects: Paints, surface coatings and treatments, inks, adhesives, general chemistry, rheology, polymer chemistry, plastics and composites, textiles, leather, health and safety and working conditions, biotechnologies, economics-corporate life, languages (English, Spanish, German), general interest newspapers, general scientific, human and social science publications.
- 2,000 research studies (lessons, exercises, annals, conferences, almanacs and catalogues, etc.),
- 2,000 French and international norms, 96 encyclopaedic collections,
- 1,400 engineering and masters course final year reports,
- 140 theses,
- 50 CD-ROMs.
In addition to these documents, the library also possesses usage data sheets, toxicology data sheets and centralised safety data sheets, ensuring these are accessible by all chemical users at all times.
The collections are permanently updated, through regularly purchases of new documents.
A portal with access to a range of intranet and internet links allows students to broaden their research and introduces them to other teaching resources (online library catalogues, databases of scientific articles, encyclopaedic indexes, French and international patents, translation websites, new purchases, scientific reports, how to properly draw up a bibliography).
The library is also working closely with the document centres of the other schools connected to the Institut Polytechnique de Lyon (ISARA, ECAM and CPE) in order to prepare the upcoming online publication of our joint catalogues, via an access portal at the University of Lyon’s PRES (Research and Higher Education Centre), so as to pool our resources, consequently increasing their visibility.
Agreements have been signed to enable students to work with the libraries at the IFTH (French Textile and Clothing Institute) and the CTC (Technical Leather Centre) when conducting bibliographical research in these areas.
